doc hudson

In 2006, Kevin and the guys built Doc Hudson
for the Disney-Pixar movie premier of "Cars".
The premier was at Lowe's MotorSpeedway in Charlotte, NC

Kevin's hands went through a lot during this build.
He had to cover his fingertips up with tape
so he could keep his fingerprints intact.

Designing the front bumper was very important
because Kevin had to get Doc's smile just right.

Redesigning side windows for Doc's character.

Fine tuning the wind wing.

Gluing two panels on the front hood.

Sanding for the chrome strip
(actually will be a fiberglass piece painted to look like chrome).

Paul Newman, Doc's voice in the movie, is taking him out for a spin.

This is what Paul looked like after driving "Doc".
(This is how we'll always remember you Paul)
Love you!

Kevin,
I loved this project and enjoyed watching the publicity on the news. I even bought a toy Doc Hudson because of your involvement in bringing the cartoon car to real life.
What a lot of intense work, so much that your fingertips take a beating. Be careful.
