The G-99

The G-99
August 8, 2003

Bully Hill 250 at Watkins Glen International Raceway

Drivers: Paul Newman, Kyle Petty, Gunnar Jeannette

Kevin designed the car to promote all of Newman's
Hole in the Wall Gang Camps
.
To this day, this is still Paul's favorite car
and he is still wearing his driving suit from this event.

Gunnar, Paul, & Kyle finished 2nd in class!

Fast forward to Rennsport III
at the Daytona Speedway, November 2007.

Bill, started running towards the car because
it looked like nobody was trying to put the fire out.

Gunnar was already out of the car, so it wasn't life or death.

Well, the G-99 is done for the weekend.

This is one way to gather a crowd.

Kevin is pushing his baby towards the trailer.

Sad, but true, this poor car has a lot of rehab in front of it.

When the fire guys finally got busy,
they doused the cockpit because they thought it was on fire.
It wasn't, but that's O.K., they were playing it safe.

load her up

Back at the shop,
Andy did a quick clean up before we parked her for awhile.

Now, fast forward again to June 2008.
Kevin talked Martin into coming down from Ohio for a week to work on the car. Martin helped to build this car...he knows it better than anybody, so he was glad to help out.

After 5 days of hard work,
Martin got the G-99 back to this stage and even got her started up.

The old tail was too damaged from the fire,
so Kevin is steam cleaning a spare he had.

Now, a little repair to the roof.

Kevin can only work on his baby a few hours a day,
so this will take awhile, but at least she's on the road to recovery.
